....As He Demands Decentralization of Pipeline Surveillance Contracts

Chief Pius Wariyai has replied to Chief Simeon Bebenimibo. He said that Bebenimibo's recent public statement actually gives the proof that he claimed was missing. 

According to Wariyai, Bebenimibo confirmed that he worked as a coordinator under Chief Government Ekpemupolo  aka Tompolo and Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.

Wariyai said that his request for the unpaid over ₦2 billion pipeline surveillance debt is not media propaganda or blackmail. He insisted that everything he has said is based on facts that can be checked and verified, not on emotions, politics, or made-up stories.

Responding to requests for documents, Wariyai said that Bebenimibo's admission that he served as a coordinator, together with his bank records showing regular monthly payments before they suddenly stopped, proves that he was officially engaged. He said this also confirms that he is entitled to the money for the work he did in protecting important national infrastructure.

Wariyai denied the claim that his work was ended because he was involved in crude oil bunkering or collecting bribes. He described those accusations as false and malicious. He said they were made to hide the organization's failure to fulfill its contract after he had completed dangerous and extensive security operations in the field.

According to Wariyai, the real reason his payments were stopped was political retaliation. He said this happened because he refused to support Tompolo's preferred candidate for Bayelsa State governor, former Governor Timipre Sylva, during the state's election period.

Wariyai also repeated that he supports President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Douye Diri. He compared his political position with that of Sylva and Tompolo, whom he accused of working against the administration's plans and political interests in the region then. 

He also challenged Tompolo to explain what happened to Charles Korubo and Balamene Karowei, Charles Kurobo is a pipeline surveillance coordinator from Bayelsa. Wariyai said they were reportedly taken from their homes and moved to Oporoza under unclear circumstances.

Wariyai said these actions show a pattern of targeting community leaders who do not cooperate. He alleged that Tompolo and his associates regularly use intimidation and unlawful methods against people who disagree with them in order to deny them their rightful payments.

He called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take urgent action and end what he described as a reign of terror by Tantita Security Services in Bayelsa State. He argued that security operations in the state should be handled by qualified people from Bayelsa State. 

Wariyai also called for the immediate decentralization of the national pipeline surveillance contracts. He said giving such large federal contracts to only one organization creates room for abuse of power, human rights violations, and the alleged operation of private detention centers.

He ended by asking the federal government to carry out a full investigation into the allegations of torture, enforced disappearances, and illegal detentions in the Niger Delta. He stressed that national security contracts should never be used to oppress the people or threaten the peace of the region.
